stayed at the Priokskaya for two weeks in June of 2004. I found the accommodations and especially the staff to be superb. Although it is customary to pay in advance, the administration allowed me to a two night grace period to pay for my second week. House keeping provided me with a fan, without me having to ask for one. “Not an insignificant detail given my inability to communicate in Russian language and summer temperatures exceeding 25 degrees.” The laundry service was prompt. Also, there is a restaurant on the first floor that specializes in local cuisine, above and beyond the usual Shoshlik and French fries. Never the less, you owe it to your self to try both. Even by Russian standards, which far exceed those of the states, the French fries are “kick butt”.The hotel is located down town, walking distance from the Kremlin, Lennin Square and Pochtovaya, home to numerous drinking establishments. There is also a fire station, practically next door.
